Okay this title is a LIE. How can I have June favourites when we’re only in the middle of the bloody month?
Basically, I have a collection of things, that have been my absolute favourites and I’ve been using them/listening to them, just loving them for a pretty long time. It’s a collection of makeup, skincare, music and a few other things thrown in there for good measure. ARE YOU READY?
The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter
I bought this as part of a (regular) ‘treat yo’ self’ moment. I was on the look out for a new and fun way to take my makeup off because I was getting a bit bored of my current routine (even though my current routine is really good and does the job – I just get restless and want to spend money I don’t have.) I’ve never tried a cleansing butter and I was just sold instantly by the camomile. I bought this as a set with a makeup eye remover and a muslin cloth and I’ve really been enjoying using it! The oil in the cleansing butter really feels as though it’s stripping my skin of all the makeup and it feels quite luxurious. I have to admit though, I don’t use this every night to take my makeup off – 9 times out of 10 I just love a quick fix and micellar water is quick and easy and not as messy as all the water that trickles down your arms as you’re trying to wash your face in the sink. The set I bought for £18 for the 3 products or £10 for just the cleansing butter.
Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream
I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned a body moisturiser in any of my favourites before. I’ve obviously always used one but never one that makes me want to write home. Until now. Bloody hell, this massive tub cost me around £3 and it’s honestly amazing. Nothing fancy, just good old Nivea giving my skin all the moisture especially when it’s constantly dry from eczema. I use it on my face morning and night and it does the job. I love it. I always get it from Home & Bargain – that’s where you’ll find it cheapest!
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Serum
This is a recent purchase from the last 3 weeks because I’ve been on the lookout for a new face serum/oil. This is since I tested the Estée Lauder Midnight Recovery Serum and just realised that, for me, with my skin type, this step was actually quite important in keeping everything hydrated. Especially when I was sleeping! This was on offer in Boots – around 7.99 and I snatched it up because 1. It says HYDRO and SUPERCHARGED which basically means my skin is going to drink it in and 2. Look at how cool it looks. I really am a marketers dream. It really has made my face feel so smooth and I feel like it’s helped a lot with how my moisturiser sinks into my skin afterwards as well! Thumbs up so far.
L’Oreal Infallible Cheek Stick, The Ordinary Serum Foundation & Maybelline V Contour Stick
These 3 products combined have been my go to makeup look for the past couple of months. Since my last blog post shouting out about how I’ve been dealing more in skincare, I feel like I can be more subtle with my makeup and these products are just great. When it comes to summer, I just feel like throwing my makeup bag out of the window and starting again. The Ordinary Serum Foundation is a lightweight water based consistency and gives me the most natural no makeup makeup look. It blends into my skin so well and I love that – it doesn’t feel cakey at all. Not one bit. The Maybelline V Duo Contour stick in medium is such a subtle contour shade and is just perfect for summer when you don’t want any of those harsh powdery lines that you may sometimes get. The highlight side isn’t the greatest, I’m not going to lie to you, but the contour side is good enough to repurchase. Finally, I’ve wanted a cream blush for quite a while so when L’Oreal launched their new collection of foundation and blush sticks, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one! This gives such a lovely natural flush – it looks quite dark in the stick but when blended out with a damp beauty blender it looks so natural!
Oh my god, I feel like such a bore throwing supplements into my blog but basically, these have been a godsend to me and I thought why shouldn’t I mention them! Long story short, I’ve been suffering really badly with frequent migraines and they were ruining my life a bit. After a trip to the doctors, they actually prescribed me with Beta blockers, which for me, were not a long term solution so I didn’t really want to start relying on them! However, after some research I found that sometimes a magnesium deficiency can affect migraines. I’m telling you, it’s the best £1 I’ve ever spent. Since taking one a day I haven’t had a migraine for near enough 2 weeks whereas when I was taking the Beta blockers, there were times when I could feel one coming on. So what’s the point in that? Honestly, if anyone reading this suffers with migraines like I did, please consider supplements!
Jessie Ware – Glasshouse
Jessie Ware is my number one gal. She is hands down, one of the most talented singers of our time. Her voice is INCREDIBLE. Her voice can make me cry. Me and my boyfriend went to go see her in March and I’m even more in love with her that we followed her to Parklife this summer. Her new album, Glasshouse, is all sort of feels. It’s so beautiful with such a mixture of upbeat songs and ballads all highlighting her absolute insane vocals. Another favourite has been her podcast ‘Table Manners’ which she presents with her mum and its made me just love her even more. She’s down to earth and just sounds like a right laugh. I honestly want her to be my best friend. If you haven’t listened to her then you’re missing out BIG TIME. Go. Now!
Cara Toon Cartoon
Now. This is my favourite thing that I have in my room. Every day when I look it I just feel HAPPY. How cute is this personalised cartoon print of and me and my boyf. I got this as a present off my best friend back in October and it’s been in prize possession in my bedroom ever since. It’s by the very talented Cara Webb (cara_toon on insta) who has now set up her own Etsy store! You should definitely check her out because she has got my fave pants down to a tee! Plus I love how shes made Al look like Stevie off Made in Cheslea. What an absolute babe! Check out her etsy here
Hate to be all soppy but for the past 5 weeks I’ve been undergoing the most amazing journey and I still can’t believe I’m on it. I’m part of Academy 7 of Agent Academy – a 12 week course in which we get to have hands on experience in the digital marketing world. Thanks to Agent Marketing/Academy for believing in me to accept me onto the course – I’ve met some amazing people and done so many fab things already and I can’t wait to see what the next 7 weeks hold!
