Disco Dancing Makeup

Hello you beautiful people. Kate’s back with a brand new blog post, hitting you up with some makeup related chat. Today, by looking at the title of this post, I’m going to be going through what makes the cut in my OUT OUT makeup bag. What are my essential products to help me go from glum to glam (oh wow) and why I can’t live without them. From base to cheeks to eyelashes to lips, let’s go on a makeup journey together.

Every makeup routine of mine in the history of ever has always started off with 2 main products. Moisturiser and a primer. I’ve been known to be halfway through my face when I’ve realised I haven’t done one of these steps and I’ve legit started my whole routine again. Face-wiped the lot of it off. My fail safe moisturiser is the L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water. It’s a gel consistency which is great, it smells like summer and it instantly sinks into your skin. For primer, its none other than the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer and it’s hands down my favourite ever primer and I don’t think I’ll ever stop buying it. Read my thoughts on it here. The NYX Angel Veil is to pop onto the areas that can get a bit oily throughout the night so I apply that to the middle of my forehead, across my nose and on my chin. I’d recommend it for people who deal with oily skin!

My go to foundation for going OUT OUT is the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in the shades Punjab and Santa Fe. Mixed together they are my perfect shade and I love how I don’t feel caked in makeup when wearing this foundation but I’ve still got all that coverage. To go alongside this, I fluctuate between the Collection Long Lasting Perfecting Concealer in Warm Medium and Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in the shade No. 53. I love the collection concealer because it’s so creamy and high coverage and I deal with a whole load of dark circles under my eyes and it’s tough to cover them at times. The Bourjois concealer is a shade lighter and I use it when I want to brighten under my eyes.

So this covers all the bronze, all the blush and all the glow. When I go out out is the only time that I’ll ever powder, because we all know Kate likes a dance and gets a little bit of extra glow going on. So to combat this, I use the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish power in Medium. It’s perfect for me, because if you don’t already know, I hate to feel ‘cakey.’ This powder is so finely milled that a sweep of powder is enough to be covered and your skin won’t feel weighed down.

A couple of months back, I was browsing Superdrug and came across, what I think, is an amazing dupe for the Soleil De Tan Chanel. It’s the B. Cassie Lomas Universal Bronzer and it’s been the best thing I’ve bought in a while. A little goes a long way with this product and it’s amazing for building up that natural bronzed glow. I don’t even feel the need to contour anymore because it’s such a deep warm bronze colour, it does the trick of chiseling out my cheekbones already! To apply, I use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush which is dense enough to apply the product but soft enough to seamlessly blend it all in.

For blush and highlighter, my go to has to be the Jaclyn Hill x Becca Cosmetics Palette. It’s the most essential thing I own in my makeup collection and I couldn’t live without it (I’m not dramatic, honest). It’s got 2 blushes (one shimmer, one matte) and the perfect matte bronzer alongside the most amazing pair of highlighters ever which includes the iconic champagne pop. They’re all so pigmented and a little goes a long way. It’s also great for travelling because there’s 3 products in one! Absolute WIN.

To do my eyebrows, aka the most important part of my face, I’ve loved using this E.L.F eyebrow duo. One side is a dark brown wax and the other is a powder used to set the brows. I just use the wax side with a thin angled brush and it really does do the job of sketching out my brows and then I set them using the Maybelline Brow Gel which I’ve been using for years and it’s my favourite brow gel. Before lashes, I use my go to mascara – Maybelline Sensational Lash which just coats the lashes perfectly and doesn’t make them clumpy. I’ve spoken about this mascara a lot, I literally don’t use anything else! Lashes, for me, are none other than the Ardell Demi Wispies. They’re the perfect density and I’ve mentioned them before in one of my favourites posts. I think Ive reused my current pair about 8 times. Definitely value for money.

For eyeshadow, I have such a selection of palettes to choose from, along with singles and duos, that it’s soooo hard to pick what look I’m going to create. However, that being said, I always seem to go for the same two palettes to create a lovely, warm orange and pink eye. The first palette is the I Heart Revolution Rose Gold Chocolate palette and the matte colours are perfect for building up that warm deep colour in your crease and the shimmers are amazing for that bit of sass in the middle of the eyelid. I love using the NYX Ultimate Palette for transition colours and base colours. The very bottom right dark brown is my favourite for when you don’t want to commit to a full dark, black smokey eye. These palettes are really pigmented and are really good value for money.

Find me a better lip combo. In all honesty, I don’t tend to use these three lipsticks all at once as the NYX Lingerie is a liquid lipstick and dries matte so to put a gloss over it really just ruins the effect. With that being said, the NYX Butter Gloss in Madeleine is my favourite lipgloss with the perfect amount of colour and sheerness and I use this during my nights out when I haven’t got the patience to apply more than one lipstick. My all time favourite lipstick is Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk. It’s so creamy and the perfect nude in my eyes. The NYX Lingerie in Silk Indulgent is perfect to dab in the middle of your lips over Pillow Talk and then blot them together to get the perfect ‘your lips but better’ (really did cringe a little saying that but it’s SO true).

And that’s it guys, that’s everything you’ll see on my face on a night out. Some of these products are new to the regime and some are veterans in the getting ready game and together they all come together in harmony and love to ‘beat my face’. Thank you.Katie XX
