Holiday Face

Ahhh. Summer. Holidays. Your body is free of pants and your face is free of makeup and left to go deliciously brown and freckly in the summer sun (if that’s your thing, of course, because it’s totally mine).

It’s a great feeling being on holiday because I feel like my confidence sky rockets even though my makeup coverage goes down. It’s great how much a bit of vitamin D can shake up your mood.

So I thought I’d just give you a little low down of what my skincare/bodycare and makeup routine was on my little trip to Lanzarote last month. Put your seatbelts on kids, we’re going on a journey through my makeup bag.

foundation// MAC Face & Body – N3

What a classic. What an essential for me in the summer. I’ve mentioned Face & Body before in recent posts because it was my first ever foundation I bought back when I was 18 and just starting out on the makeup scene. I find that it does great things to my skin. I love the thin water based consistency for sheer coverage (but it is build-able for all you full coverage gals) and it just makes my skin look like my skin but better. It doesn’t hide my freckles and that’s good because I actually like them. It’s a great summer base in my humble opinion.

bronze// b. by Cassie Lomas Universal Bronze

A dupe of the cult classic Soleil Tan De Chanel, this gives me the best natural bronze ever and a little goes a long way. It’s a whipped cream consistency and a little goes a long well so make sure you blend really well! Forehead, cheeks and jawline and I’m good to go like a bronzed goddess.

highlight// Barry M highlighter drops – liquid fortune

Wow. Literally don’t use anything else other than these creamy drops of sunshine on my cheekbones. It gives me such a natural glow and makes me feel so summery. I’ve tried a lot of highlighter sticks and drops in the past and I must say, these have been my favourite so far and they won’t break the bank.

blush// Kiko smart blush – fard

Quickly becoming one of my favourite makeup brands, I was on the lookout for a new peachy orange bronzer so decided to try Kiko. The pigmentation is immense. I love an orange blush for any time of the year and for any occasion and this one just ticks all the boxes. Again, a little goes a long way but the more the merrier I say!

body// Nuxe Multi Purpose Dry Oil

Holy shit I love this oil so much. I use it all over my body – it gives my collarbones the love they’ve been needing and it gives me supermodel legs that look like they’re about to salsa on the beach. I also love using this on my face mixed with some of my Laura Mercier Radiance Primer for a fresh faced glow.

cleanser// Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm

Having used this cleansing balm every day for 2 weeks, I feel like I can safely say it’s becoming my favourite way to take of my makeup. Forget makeup wipes (ew), forget micellar water and cotton wool pads, I’ve found myself enjoying taking my time with this balm and really massaging it into my face and enjoying the spa like smell that comes with it. I take it off with a muslin cloth and it’s just so gentle to use over the eyes to take any eye makeup off and mascara even if that area does need a little bit more of a rub than others. It’s been leaving my skin so soft and smooth and so much more clean feeling!

Everything that I’ve mentioned in this blog post are full on essentials in my everyday makeup bag/skincare routine and most things I’ve had in my collection for quite some time. I’m trying my best to really reduce the amount I’m spending on makeup (I’m finding it more difficult with skincare!) and looking more towards what’s in my collection and seeing what I can mix and match to shake things up.

I hope you enjoyed my little holiday face and I’ll be seeing you guys again soon!
