Glossier. A brand that pretty much every one has heard of for their minimalist, modern branding and their millennial pink hues. From their infamous boy brow to their ‘your skin but better’ cloud paints, the Glossier brand is all about ‘less is more’ and embracing that real life skin. Which is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, it is mine. I love skin like foundation, I love being able to see through makeup to see the freckles I’ve been blessed with and I love to enhance the things that my momma gave me without feeling bogged down with products.
SO. I was so excited for my delivery. The Glossier website is cute. It’s easy to navigate with titles along the top of the page to take you to whatever you’re looking for eg ‘skincare,’ ‘beauty’ & even ‘fragrance.’ What I really loved about the options is the option for ‘Team Picks’ – little old me wants to know what the guys who work their are shouting about. As it was my first purchase, I know that I wanted to try their products but just didn’t know where to start.
I decided on the ‘Shop our sets’ tab which firstly shows you the bestsellers and allows to you to buy a collection of products in a bundle with a fab little saving for doing so.
I decided on the boy brow (in black), balm dotcom (in original) & futuredew for my first taste of the Glossier ‘hype.’
boy brow – black
First impressions: I couldn’t believe how small the tube was. I thought I’d been sent a tester. Which isn’t the greatest first impression. However what this little tube does to my eyebrows makes up for the fact that it’s missing a couple of inches! The brush is the perfect shape and size for precise application which I love. Since lockdown, I haven’t been able to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted which has been a pain, but with a little home tinting and a swipe of boy brow, I’m ready to take on the day. I haven’t been using any other brow product – not even my trusty Morphe eyebrow pencil – I’ve been embracing the bare brow with boy brow brushed into them. It will be a definite repurchase. A lot of product does come out of the brush initially so I find myself scraping some of the excess product back into the tube but then it gives such a natural full brow. On it’s own, it’s £14 but I got in the bundle which was £38 for 3 products.
balmdotcom – original
I just love lip balm. I love it more than lipstick and lip gloss. Tinted lip balm…even better. However, for my first Glossier purchase I thought I’d buy into the original balm dotcom. I’ve watched quite a lot of beauty You-tubers talking about this as an essential in their handbags as it’s just a really handy ‘does what it says on the tin’ type of lip balm. I do love the consistency, not too thick and oily but it definitely hydrates your lips – it’s not sticky and there’s literally no smell but it gives a lovely sheen on the lips which I love with my barely there makeup! The great thing is, it can be used not only on the lips, but on any dry bits of skin – you know how I feel about a 2 in 1 product! It’s formulated with castor oil, beeswax and lanolin so it’s just so lovely and hydrating. As someone who suffers with terrible dry lips and dry skin around my mouth at times, I can say this is a solid lip balm.
futuredew oil serum hybrid
Last up in the trio, but by far my favourite out of them all, is futuredew. Essentially an instant dewy glow from a bottle. This is to be used as your last step in your skincare routine and acts as a primer for makeup. In my case, it has been my makeup because I love how plump and dewy my skin looks so much so that I’ve only been wearing a little concealer under my eyes, mascara, boy brow (obviously) and I’m good to go. I was a little unsure of the consistency at first as when I first applied it on my face, it did feel quite thick for a serum and a tad oily, however, I’ve mastered a pea sized amount and really buffed it into the parts of my face where I want jazzing up and where I want that natural glow. It does feel rich and luxurious when you put it on your skin – I recommend using your fingers so that the product warms up in your hands and then let it work it’s magic. For those wondering, I have dry and sensitive skin, so this works really well for hydrating and doesn’t irritate! Normally £23 on it’s own.
Overall, I’ve been really impressed with my first purchase on Glossier. I’m so intrigued by the rest of their products – I’ve got my eye on the milk jelly cleanser and also the cloud paints! Let me know what you’re favourite products are or what’s on your wish-list.
